I think I have discovered a new condition that only belongs to people who dog sit for months on end. I often wake up in the night, in pitch darkness, wondering where the hell I am.
Sometimes I sit bolt upright, processing my location frantically while the dog, equally as distraught at my ninja find-the-lamp-moves, is less than enthusiatic for getting its face and eyes fumbled.
After I realise theres no lamp at this particular bedside, I have a moment of clarity and remember where I am. I take a full breath and lie back down, pulling the covers over me once more and drift off to sleep.
The dog probably still sitting there with a "zoikes" expression, ears back, eyes wide, and looking for the stealthy intruder that isnt even there....takes a moment longer to process whatever the hell just happened before joining me in slumber...
